About Forest Tribe

Debbie Freedman has been a qualified primary school teacher with a PGCE Primary with Spanish at Manchester Metropolitan Univerisity and has always loved the outdoors. Through time, she has noticed how children respond positively to the oudoor environment. She enjoys guiding childrens’ learning and is focused on their journey as well as their outcome as this is what develop other personal qualities that may not be easily measured, such as self-awareness, empathy, courage, sense of wonder, resourcefulness, motivation and creativity to name but a few.

She has a BSc Hons in Artificial Intelligence with Spanish at The University of Sussex and understands how technology plays such an important in our lives. However, she believes it is just as important not to lose sight of our ancenstorial skills such as building shelters, cooking over the fire and using our hands to make things, as life is becoming so fast paced. Some children of current generations are losing this understanding of the world, and in some cases these skills could be lost forever.

In 2006, Debbie set up a dance education service, DAB Rhythm, teaching dance forms ranging from hip-hop, African to Bollywood. This was the stepping stone for Forest Tribe. The opportunity to teach in an outdoor environment where music and dance and lifeskills are all interlinked.

She has worked with children and adults of all ages and abilities. She is a qualified Level 3 Forest School Practitioner through Archimedes, CRB checked, insured and has a First Aid Certificate.

Her work is ‘inspirational’ and her enthusiasm of what she does eminates throughout her sessions.
